We Are Wakefield – Saturday July 25th

Recently the We Are Wakefield group re-formed in reaction to the news that the National Front would be holding a march in Wakefield on the 25th of July. The NF march will be from the Wakey Tavern to the Bullring via the Springs.

Though this is short notice, the We Are Wakefield group are going to hold an ‘all-singing, all-dancing, family friendly, community party’ to counter this intrusion. The venue, subject to final approval, will be Wakefield Precinct adjacent to the steps of Wakefield Cathedral. The party is to confidently show that Wakefield is a peaceful, united, mixed society with a friendly vibrant atmosphere.

We Are Wakefield are inviting all community groups and organizations to come along and join in with the party. We would love community groups, organizations and individuals to come along and enjoy a celebration of good neighbourliness. Everyone is welcome to bring their talents, skills, party hats, balloons, buns and cakes for a summer party. The day will highlight the friendly face of Wakefield and be strictly non-confrontational.

There will be a public meeting on Thursday 23rd of July 7.15pm, at Lightwaves. More details here. All welcome.
